We feature in this section images and visual material related to Aponte and his “book of paintings.” The first of the image galleries explores the visual culture of turn of the nineteenth-century Havana. In the gallery, we see the kinds of images and architecture Aponte may have seen or consulted in Havana. A future gallery will include images from the books in his library, and another will address images of leaders of the Haitian Revolution that he possibly owned and shared with others.
